Bridport Prize 2000 - Poetry Prizewinners

  • 1st Prize £2500 Linda Rogers, Victoria B.C. Canada "Snail Love with Opera"

Linda is a Canadian poet, who also writes fiction, non-fiction and children's books. With her husband she writes and performs songs for children. Mother of three sons she has two grandchildren. She reviews books on the evening news and teaches writing workshops and is on contract with various universities and online. She is Past President of the League of Canadian Poets and has been awarded several poetry prizes. Her greatest concern is for the rights of children.

Bridport Prize 2000 - Short Story Prizewinners

  • 1st Prize £2500 Victoria Worsley, London N8 "Giddy, Stick and the Beach Hut"

Victoria was born in London in 1966. Since leaving Oxford in 1988, she has worked mainly as an actor and runs Jade, a new-writing theatre company she founded in 1992. On the writing side, she began by co-devising shows with cult performance company Tattycorum in the 1980's, since when she has written two plays toured by Jade and another short piece commissioned and produced by Soho Theatre Company and published this year by Faber and Faber. Prose fiction is a recent departure; this is the second short story she has submitted to competition.
