Using HTML Tags

99.9% of entries will look fine when printed. If you are not sure about using these tags then don't use them. If your entry does not look right then we will contact you.

Sending your entry via the Internet, it will be in HTML form. Browsers collapse any sequence of spaces, tabs and returns into a single space character.
You can use tags around a letter, word or group of words to produce different type.

E.g. <B>This is bold </B> text. looks like this

This is bold text.

<I>This is italic</I> text looks like this:-

This is italic text

<U>This is underlined</U> text looks like:-

This is underlined text

<U><B>This is bold and underlined</B></U> text looks like:-

This is bold and underlined text.

You may want to center (note American spelling!) some text. For example, here are a few lines from a winning entry in a previous year:

..........But they called Mr Jones this time. He said he'd call the Fire Brigade if I didn't

open up at once.<BR> <CENTER>S is for What's in store<BR>is for Space Walks<BR>is for Silly

Billy<BR>is for Sin Bin<BR></CENTER>Maureen and Eric take me out........
Looks like:-

............... But they called Mr Jones this time. He said he'd call the Fire Brigade if I didn't open up at once.

S is for What's in store
is for Space Walks
is for Silly Billy
is for Sin Bin

Maureen and Eric take me out........

Be very careful to turn off the tag! If you don't the rest of the document would be in bold, italic or underlined.

IF IN DOUBT DON'T USE TAGS
