Short Stories

5000 words maximum (no minimum)
2010 Judge: Zoë Heller

1st = £5000 (approx. 8300 US$, 5589 Euro)
2nd = £1000 (approx. 1660 US$, 1117Euro)
3rd = £500 (approx. 830 US$, 558 Euro)

10 supplementary prizes of £50 each

The winning stories and shortlist will be read by leading London literary agents with a view to representing writers.

The winning stories (those eligible) are submitted to the National Short Story Prize, worth £15k
and the Sunday Times EFG Private Bank Short Story Award, worth £25k

Fee

£7 per story

Judging

All entries are judged anonymously. Amateur and professional writers compete on an equal footing.

Anthology

The winning stories, poems and flash fiction will be published in the Bridport Prize 2010 anthology

The Dorset award

An additional £100 and a perpetual trophy is awarded to the best local (Dorset, UK) winner or runner up The Dorset Award

Prizegiving

All winners are invited to a Prizegiving Lunch on 31st October 2010 in Bridport, Dorset. Prizegiving
